Permanent makeup is an art, not an exact science. While every effort is made to create beautiful, balanced and symmetrical results, perfect symmetry cannot be guaranteed. Natural facial features, bone structure, muscle movement and skin characteristics vary from one side of the face to the other. If you expect absolute perfection or identical symmetry, permanent makeup may not be the right choice for you.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Please arrive makeup-free in the area being treated and with clean skin.

For eyebrow procedures, please do not wax, tweeze, thread or reshape your brows for approximately 7 days before your appointment. This allows me to see your natural brow growth and shape.

For lip blushing, keep your lips well hydrated and gently exfoliate them during the week leading up to your appointment. Do not aggressively exfoliate cracked, irritated or damaged lips. If you have ever experienced cold sores or fever blisters, please notify me before scheduling your procedure and contact your healthcare provider to discuss whether preventive antiviral medication is appropriate for you. Lip procedures may trigger a recurrence in individuals with a history of cold sores.

For eyeliner procedures, please arrive without eye makeup and remove your contact lenses before the procedure. Please bring glasses with you if needed.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment and avoid excessive caffeine on the day of your procedure, as these may contribute to increased sensitivity, bleeding or discomfort.

Certain medications and supplements, including aspirin, NSAIDs, anticoagulants and some supplements, can increase bleeding or bruising. Do not discontinue any prescription medication without first speaking with the healthcare provider who prescribed it. If you take prescription blood thinners or medication that affects bleeding or healing, please notify me before your appointment so we can determine whether medical clearance is appropriate.

Avoid retinoids, retinol, AHAs, exfoliating acids and other irritating skincare products directly around the treatment area for approximately 1–2 weeks before your appointment. More aggressive skin treatments, including chemical peels, laser treatments, dermabrasion or similar resurfacing procedures, may require a longer waiting period. Please contact me before your appointment if you have recently undergone one of these treatments. Certain medications, such as isotretinoin, can also affect the skin and may require postponing treatment.

If you have recently received Botox, fillers, laser treatments, chemical peels, microneedling or other cosmetic treatments near the procedure area, please let me know before your appointment. Appropriate spacing between treatments may vary depending on the procedure and treatment location.

Discontinue cosmetic brow or lash growth serums around the treatment area approximately 7 days before your appointment unless otherwise directed.

Hormonal changes, medications, skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure and individual healing characteristics can all affect pigment retention and healed results.

What to Expect

Permanent makeup typically requires more than one session to achieve the desired healed result. A perfection appointment is generally performed approximately 6–8 weeks after the initial procedure, once the skin has healed and the pigment can be properly evaluated. Some clients, particularly those with oily or more resistant skin, may require additional sessions.

Immediately following the procedure, the pigment will normally appear darker, brighter and more defined than the final healed result. As the skin heals, the color will soften and lighten. The amount of fading varies from person to person, so an exact percentage of pigment retention cannot be guaranteed.

A topical anesthetic may be used before and/or during the procedure to help minimize discomfort. Individual responses to anesthetics vary, and complete numbness cannot be guaranteed. Some clients experience very little sensation while others may experience pressure, scratching, tenderness or discomfort.

Temporary redness, tenderness and swelling may occur following treatment. The amount and duration vary depending on the procedure and the individual.

Although topical anesthetics are commonly used during cosmetic procedures, allergic reactions or sensitivities are possible. Symptoms may include unusual redness, itching, rash, blistering or excessive swelling. Please disclose any known allergy or previous reaction to lidocaine or other topical anesthetics before your procedure. The FDA has also warned against improperly formulated or excessively strong topical anesthetic products used with cosmetic procedures.

A patch test may be available upon request before your procedure. Please contact me at least one week before your scheduled appointment if you would like to discuss patch testing. A negative patch test cannot guarantee that an allergic or sensitivity reaction will never occur.

Children, Guests & Animals

Although I love children, I strongly discourage bringing children to your permanent makeup appointment. Your appointment time is specifically reserved for you, and permanent cosmetic procedures require concentration, precision and as few distractions as possible. Please arrange childcare whenever possible so I can give you my complete attention and provide the safest and best service possible.

No pets or other animals are permitted in the studio. This is not an All About the Brow policy or personal preference. It is a State of Texas health and safety requirement for licensed tattoo studios, which includes permanent cosmetic facilities. Qualifying service animals are permitted as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Contraindications and Medical Considerations

Permanent makeup may need to be postponed or may not be appropriate during pregnancy or nursing, during certain chemotherapy or radiation treatments, when there is an active infection, rash, open wound, sunburn, cold sore or other compromised skin in or near the treatment area, or when a skin condition such as psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis is actively affecting the treatment area.

Certain health conditions do not automatically mean you cannot have permanent makeup, but they may affect healing, bleeding, infection risk or pigment retention. Please contact me before scheduling if you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, uncontrolled high blood pressure, an autoimmune condition, thyroid or Graves' disease, a bleeding or clotting disorder, a history of poor wound healing, significant immune suppression, or another condition that may affect your ability to heal.

Medical clearance may be requested when appropriate. Permanent makeup artists do not diagnose medical conditions or advise clients to discontinue prescribed medications. When there is any question regarding your medical suitability for a procedure, you may be asked to consult your healthcare provider before proceeding.

Your safety and healed results are extremely important. Please disclose all relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, previous permanent makeup and recent cosmetic or medical treatments before your procedure.

Fitz 1 - skin tone ivory, eye color: light blue, light gray, or light green natural hair color: red or light blonde sun reaction: skin always freckles, always burns and peels, and never tans

Fitz 2 - skin tone fair or pale, eye color: blue, gray, or green natural hair color: blonde sun reaction: skin usually freckles, burns and peels often, and rarely tans

Fitz 3 - skin tone fair to beige, with golden undertones eye color: hazel or light brown natural hair color: dark blonde or light brown sun reaction: skin might freckle, burns on occasion, and sometimes tans

Fitz 4 - skin tone olive or light brown, eye color: dark brown natural hair color: dark brown sun reaction: doesn’t really freckle, burns rarely, and tans often

Fitz 5 - skin tone dark brown, eye color: dark brown to black natural hair color: dark brown to black sun reaction: rarely freckles, almost never burns, and always tans

Fitz 6 - skin tone deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown, eye color: brownish black natural hair color: black sun reaction: never freckles, never burns, and always tans darkly

~ I understand that ALL appointments require a $75 booking retainer to reserve and secure my appointment time. This policy is in place to protect scheduled appointment times and help minimize last-minute cancellations and no-shows.

~ I understand that my $75 booking retainer will be applied toward the final balance of my scheduled appointment.

~ I understand that I am responsible for following All About The Brow’s current cancellation and rescheduling policies. Failure to follow these policies may result in the forfeiture of my booking retainer and/or additional applicable fees. Any outstanding fees must be paid before a new appointment can be scheduled.

~ I understand that the most current cancellation and rescheduling policies are available on the All About The Brow website and may also be provided through appointment-related text messages.

All photos and/or videos will be clinically appropriate and presented in a professional and tasteful manner.

I understand that Marla Nutter/All About The Brow may use photographs and/or videos taken of my procedure or results for educational, demonstrational, marketing, and promotional purposes. These images may appear on the All About The Brow website, social media platforms, Google, printed materials, or in-office displays.

I understand that I will not receive compensation for the use of these photographs and/or videos.

I certify that I am 18 years of age or older, am not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, am not pregnant or nursing, and voluntarily consent to the permanent cosmetic procedure selected. The nature of the procedure, expected results, healing process, and reasonable alternatives have been explained to me, and I have had the opportunity to ask questions.

Procedure & Design
I understand that permanent cosmetics are a form of cosmetic tattooing in which pigment is implanted into the skin. I will have the opportunity to approve the color, shape, size, placement, and design established with Marla Nutter/All About The Brow before the procedure begins. If an unforeseen circumstance occurs during the procedure, I authorize my artist to use professional judgment in determining whether the procedure should be modified, postponed, or discontinued for my safety.

Results & Pigment Retention
I understand that permanent cosmetic results cannot be guaranteed. Pigment retention and healed results vary from person to person and may be affected by skin type, age, medications, health conditions, sun exposure, smoking, lifestyle, skincare products, previous procedures, and compliance with aftercare instructions.

Pigment will fade and change over time; however, pigment particles may remain in the skin indefinitely. Exact color, symmetry, pigment retention, and longevity cannot be guaranteed.

I understand that oily or porous skin may result in softer, less-defined strokes, pigment spreading, or a more powdered appearance.

Multiple Sessions
I understand that all initial permanent cosmetic procedures include two visits: the initial procedure and one Perfection Visit. In some cases, additional touch-ups may be recommended based on individual healing, skin type, pigment retention, or desired results. Additional visits are not always necessary and, if needed, may be subject to an additional fee.

Healing
I understand that temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, dryness, flaking, scabbing, itching, uneven color, or temporary loss of visible pigment may occur during healing. The final healed color and result cannot be accurately evaluated until the skin has completed the healing process.

I agree to follow all written and verbal pre-care and aftercare instructions. Failure to follow these instructions may negatively affect healing, pigment retention, and the final result.

Risks & Possible Complications
I understand that cosmetic tattooing involves risks and possible complications, including but not limited to infection, allergic or inflammatory reaction, scarring, pigment migration or spreading, uneven pigment retention, color changes, asymmetry, fading, and an undesirable cosmetic result.

Medical & Cosmetic Considerations
I certify that I have disclosed all known medical conditions, allergies, medications, previous permanent cosmetics, skin conditions, and other information that could reasonably affect my procedure or healing.

I understand that future procedures or treatments, including injectables, laser treatments, chemical peels, resurfacing procedures, cosmetic surgery, skincare treatments, or other procedures that alter the skin, may change the appearance, shape, placement, or color of my permanent cosmetics. Some changes may not be correctable.

Acknowledgment & Consent
I understand that permanent cosmetics are an artistic procedure performed on living tissue and are not an exact science. No specific result has been promised or guaranteed.

By signing this consent (below), I acknowledge that I have read and understand the information above, have had the opportunity to ask questions, and voluntarily consent to the permanent cosmetic procedure performed by Marla Nutter/All About The Brow.

I understand that permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing and that results, longevity, color retention, and fading vary from person to person. Pigment may fade over time, change in appearance, or remain in the skin indefinitely.

I understand that permanent makeup is a process and may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired result. A perfection/touch-up appointment is strongly recommended approximately 6–8 weeks after the initial procedure, once the skin has adequately healed.

I understand that no specific result, color, symmetry, longevity, or pigment retention can be guaranteed. Results may be affected by skin type, age, lifestyle, medications, sun exposure, skincare products, healing response, and compliance with aftercare instructions.

I understand that I will have the opportunity to review and approve the pre-drawn shape, size, and placement before the procedure begins. The pre-draw is a guideline, and minor variations may occur during the procedure and healing process.

I understand that discomfort may occur despite the use of topical anesthetics. Temporary bleeding, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, itching, or sensitivity may also occur.

I understand that risks associated with permanent makeup may include infection, allergic or inflammatory reaction, scarring, pigment migration or spreading, uneven pigment retention, color changes, fading, and an undesirable cosmetic result. Texas DSHS specifically maintains reporting procedures for infections and allergic reactions associated with tattoo procedures.

I understand that permanent makeup may be difficult to remove. Removal or correction may require laser, saline/lightening treatments, additional tattooing, or other procedures, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Some removal procedures may result in skin changes or scarring.

I understand that permanent makeup is intended to enhance my natural features and may not replace traditional cosmetics. I may still choose to use makeup to achieve a darker, more defined, or different appearance.

I acknowledge that individual results vary and that All About The Brow does not guarantee results or provide refunds based solely on pigment retention, fading, or personal preference regarding the healed result.
